Does Diet Cause Acne?

The thinking that diet does not affect acne is a falsehood perpetuated by that part of the medical industry that is trying to protect their livelihood of dispensing drugs. The AMA has established that the only way to deal with acne is through the use of medication. They say there is no evidence to support the idea that diet causes acne.

By the time you develop acne, your whole body chemistry is out of balance causing bacteria to multiple in the sacks of excess sebum which resulted from unbalanced hormones. All this is as a result of eating junk and processed foods. Do think that teenagers are eating a healthy diet?

Then again, are there excess bacteria in your hair follicles because your body balances on the acid side rather than in the alkaline side? When your body has excess acid, bacteria and other pathogens can multiple throughout your body. If you have a toxic colon, which has not been cleaned out regularly, you may have excess toxin trying to get out of your body and travel to your follicles and out your skin as an escape route

Annemarie Colbin, points out, in her book, Food And Healing, 1986,

"In my experience, diet has everything to do with acne. Not only did I fix my own bad skin through correct eating but I have seen among my students a number of severe cases - the large purplish kind of acne on cheeks and chins - completely cured within three months by a change of diet."

Here is a quick list of acne foods or habits to avoid. They interrupt your hormonal and chemical balance causing you to have diseases. In addition, they deplete your mineral and vitamin stores.

Smoking
Drinking alcohol
Drinking coffee
Eating sugar

You don't need to stop eating these foods instantly. Not many people can do this. You need to do this gradually. I know it will be hard to stop eating some of these foods that you have enjoyed, over the years, but you have to ask yourself the question,

"Which do I want to be …Acne free or a junk food acne faced addict?"

The choice is yours and I know you will make the right decision.

Now here is the rest of the list of acne foods you need to avoid, so do it gradually.

" White Bread - This is junk food and is hard to digest and causes constipation
" Chocolate - some chocolates are better than others. Those that have saturated fats such milk, butter and sugars are not good for your skin.
" Saturated Fried Fatty foods - fried foods, butter, chesses, beef, chicken with skin
" Foods in packages - All foods in packages or boxes are junk food. They take from you because they use up minerals, vitamins, and digestive enzymes.
" Foods with artificial flavors and preservatives - These are non-foods that are super toxic and your body stores them as fat.
" Milk, ice cream, hard chesses - these foods cause allergies and cause mucus to form. If you cannot digest dairy products, this can cause you to have acne.
" Sodas are the worst drink you can take. They contain plenty of sugar and phosphoric acid.
" Sugar is considered a white poison, since it creates so many health problems
" Salt - avoid salt only because it has iodine. Iodine has been shown to cause acne.
" Excess Vitamin B12 - can aggravate or produce acne.

There you have it. It takes a lot of will power and desire to change your diet. Your body is composed of what you eat. If you eat more raw food, you will have less facial blemishes. It can be done but do it slowly. Start changing your diet and see where you're at in 6 months.

How to Eliminate Acne in 3 Days

by : Jim Blake
Collodial silver topical acne treatments are a great way to quikly eliminate mild to moderate acne. Silver has been used as a natural remedy for thousands of years. It has been known that the properties in silver kill bacteria ,viruses and fungus. For centuries wealthy people would put a pure silver spoon or coin in a glass of water over night and then drink the water in the morning. This was used as a tonic to keep them healthy through the winter months and guard them from infectious disease..

Collodial silver topical acne treatments can be found over the counter at your local health food store or on line. You can buy colloidal silver sprays and topical gels at Utopia Silver.. Sprays or gels tend to work the best as a topical treatment for acne.

The reason why colloidal silver works so well at combating acne is because the silver kills the bacteria that cause acne. The silver suffocates the bacteria by destroying its ability to utilize oxygen to breed. The process happens rather quickly without causing any harm to the person or to friendly bacteria.

To use colloidal silver as an acne treatment you need to follow a few basic steps. Wash your face twice per day with a gentle perfume free soap. Neutrogena makes some wonderful brands of effective cleansers that clean your face without stripping your skin.

Be gentle on your skin. One of the most common mistakes people with acne make is by being too harsh or aggressive when washing their face. Acne can also be aggravated from irritation.

For the best results wash your face in chlorine free water. (Many people also don't realize that tap water is loaded with chlorine that can also irritate the skin and lead to other health problems.) Buy a chlorine filter or use distilled water. It's recommended by dermatologist to wash your face twice per day, morning and night. If your skin gets oily mid-day, use oil blotting cloths which can be found at your local pharmacy.

After your face is clean and dry spray colloidal silver all over your face. If you have active break outs spray extra silver directly on those areas. Avoid wearing make up at least during the summer months when oil production is highest. Don't touch your face and change your pillow case every 3 days. Let the silver perform it's magic. Most people with mild to moderate acne will find favorible resuts within 3 days. I have eliminated acne within 48 hours. Acne Bacteria: Does It Really Cause Acne?

Propionibacterium or acne bacteria is not the root cause of acne, so destroying it can, at best, help you to bring down the swelling that a ripe pimple causes. It cannot prevent acne from forming as it does not play much of a part in the creation of this condition.

The Acne Problem Lies Way Below The Skin.

Practitioners of conventional medicine describe acne as a skin inflammation. This condition is caused largely by factors on the skin surface, the principal one being an excess of sebum and keratin being produced by the oil glands.

The excessive oil blocks the pores of the hair follicle and this leads to the growth of bacteria. As the growth of bacteria increases, small pimples appear, both on the surface of the skin and directly underneath. The ones above the surface are called blackheads and the ones below the surface are called whiteheads.

In reality, the cause of acne lies way below the surface of the skin. It`s not the immediate signs that you have to tackle, not the inflamed skin, not the investigations of the skin type, not the excessive production of oil, nor the clogged hair follicles or the bacteria on your skin; none of these. Acne is formed because deep rooted factors develop an environment which is conducive to its formation and growth.

Acne is a condition, NOT a disease.

Whatever else acne might be, it is certainly not a disease, just as many of the medical conditions found in the western world are not really diseases. Acne RESULTS from a disease and the acne condition is the body`s way of telling you that all is not well. Don`t ignore this message as the balance of your body is at stake.

I wish to warn you that you should not take the words of conventional practitioners of medicine as the whole truth and start treating your acne as a skin ailment and nothing else. The problem can only be found in the deeper recesses of the body.

If you are afflicted with acne, please understand that the real cause of it is an imbalance that has occurred in your body`s system. The rashes and pimples are the outward manifestations of a much deeper problem which you MUST tackle if you want to be rid of your acne and lead a healthier life.

You will obviously wonder why doctors insist on labeling acne as a malfunction of the skin. The reason is that they can make more money by making you buy the worthless antibiotics and lotions.

The truth about acne bacteria:

Acne bacteria or propionibacterium, to give it its technical term, is something that every human being has on his skin. This bacterium is a life form which fights for survival and is beneficial for us. So the malignant organisms which conventional medicines try to eradicate are really very important for our good health and well being.

You may be surprised to know that acne bacteria, so long as it is in tune with the balance of your body, help you repel other bacteria which are way more harmful for you. It exists in all human beings, irrespective of whether they have acne or not and is the major reason for the flexibility of your skin.

The secretions from our sweat and sebaceous glands are what the acne bacteria feed itself on. This is normal for everyone whether they have acne or not.

Acne bacteria do NOT cause acne and is not contagious. Obviously, as otherwise every single individual would have contracted acne since the bacteria is in all of us. Then why is it that only some unfortunate souls land up being afflicted?

The case is the same with streptococcus bacteria which everyone has. Then why is it that everyone doesn`t get tonsillitis or a strep throat? The reason is that, like acne bacteria, it will not strike unless the conditions in the body are right and a specific environment is fashioned.

It is the environment which counts (the acne triangle of oil-toxins-bacteria).

The environment that creates acne is one where there is an overproduction of sebum oil, mainly due to an imbalance in hormones, and this excess mixes with congested toxins which come out through the skin. This mixture is dangerous as it causes bacteria to develop and grow disturbingly fast. The condition which is thus created is the standard one for an acne sufferer: pimples and nodules which are inflamed and pus-filled.

This condition, described above, where the bacteria grows in leaps and bounds because of the admixture of excess sebum oil and blood toxins, has to be prevented. Merely killing the bacteria is not sufficient because it will grow again when the above condition is recreated. So the ONLY way to stop acne permanently is to go to the root of the problem and ensure that this condition is not allowed to happen.

So antibiotics which kill acne bacteria, such as benzoyl peroxide, tetracycline or monocycline are not permanent cures because they do not tackle the root cause of the acne.

Then What Really Causes Acne?

You will, by now, realize what it is that makes acne bacteria grow so drastically and what environment brings on acne. But all this is only what happens on the surface. What we have to know in order to permanently stop acne from happening is the root cause of the hormonal imbalance and the blood toxins that cause the nexus between oil, toxins and bacteria in the first place.

This nexus is created on the surface of the skin because of a process that is affected by changes within the body. These changes are nutritional, hormonal, environmental and even psychological.

Therefore, to ensure a permanently clear skin, you will have to counteract the changes in ALL the factors mentioned above so that bacteria does not multiply but is kept at an optimal level on your skin.

How To Kill Bacteria That Cause Acne

by : Imran ali
For the best acne treatment it is necessary to target the real cause of the acne. Most of the drugs and treatment methods are developed keeping in mind this thing. There are special type of bacteria present under the skin that are responsible for the creation of many waste matters that inflame the skin and cause acne spots to be produced on the skin. The acne treatment drugs must be made to kill these bacteria otherwise the acne will not be treated effectively. The bacteria that cause acne are called P. Acnes. In this article we will see how to kill these bacteria naturally and will study the effects of this natural treatment.

The tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic and a good natural acne treatment. This oil is found be very effective in killing the P. Acnes bacteria. Therefore the application of this oil is a recommended solution to treat acne. When tea tree oil is applied on the skin surface, it is absorbed into the skin tissues and goes under the skin pores too. Under the skin pores are present the skin glands that produce an oily secretion. This oily secretion is accumulated under the skin due to pores blockage. The P. Acnes bacteria usually attack on this oily substance and produce the toxins and waste matters that cause acne. When tea tree oil is applied these bacteria are killed and the skin inflammation is controlled.

Tea tree oil is available in many creams, ointments and other skin products at the good stores. By using these products on the skin, the tea tree oil is absorbed into the skin and produces its effects.

Acne Home Remedies - 5 Excellent Ways To A Clear Skin

Acne is an extremely common skin problem, occurring quite frequently amongst older teenagers and young adults. If ignored, acne can cause serious skin problems immediately or later in life. With all the different products out there to treat acne, you may be tempted to try some. But before you go out and purchase some of these often expensive products, try out some of these acne home remedies.

1. Toothpaste - For Minty Fresh Skin

Believe it or not, toothpaste can sometimes help clear up acne. While there have been no formal studies to date, many people swear by toothpaste as an effective acne home remedy. Simply apply directly to your problems spots before bedtime. Common wisdom holds that this will help control the swelling and redness. Just make certain you use actual toothpaste, not the gel stuff.

2. Salt and Vinegar - Pickle Those Zits

A solution of salt water, with or without vinegar, can help clear up your acne both by drying your skin (removing excess oils) and by helping disinfect. Wash your face twice a day with a salt water (and vinegar if you like) solution. Just don't make the remedy too strong, mildly salty is best. For stubborn spots, make a stronger solution, apply to the swollen area, and leave on for 15-20 minutes.

3. Fruits - Healthy Inside and Out

Fruits are also held to be an effective acne home remedy. Try applying strawberry leaves directly to the zit and leave the on for a while. Fresh lemon juice (not concentrated) or lime mixed with rose water is another acne home remedy you can try. Apply to your face and leave for 15 minutes. Try this one for 15 days and you just might be amazed at the results! Ground orange peel, mixed with water into a pastre, can be effective in treating an outbreak. Apply and leave for 15-20 minutes, then rinse the paste off with warm water. Papaya juice is also widely held to be effective. Fresh tomato paste can be used much like the orange peel paste as well. The one thing all these fruit-based acne home remedies have in common is their astringent properties. Removal of excess oil and dirt is the key to fighting acne.

4. More Plant-Based Acne Home Remedies

In the same vein as the fruits discussed above, there are many herbs and plants that have also proven to be effective acne home remedies. A mixture of the oil extract of witch hazel, sweet fennel, and tea in water applied 2-3 times per day has been shown to be effective in fighting acne. Methi (fenugreek) leaves, crushed into a paste, can be useful when applied for 10-15 minutes before rinsing. Crushed garlic works as an effective acne home remedy as well, although most people forgo this one simply because of the smell. Aloe Vera has well-documented skin healing properties, and acts as an astringent as well. Cucumber, of course, has been a favorite to reduce all kinds of swellings for years. It can be more effective if you apply the cucumber in paste form. But I'll bet you didn't know that ground radish or ground sesame seeds are also another acne home remedy.

5. Support From the Inside

All these mixtures, concoctions, and pastes are nice to apply to the outside, but boosting your body from the inside makes any of these acne home remedies work that much better. Nettle tea has long been recommended as a cure-all for skin problems of all sorts, including acne. Taking a vitamin supplement with vitamin B5 and zinc promote a healthy immune system, helping your body fight off acne-causing bacteria. Give some of these home acne remedies a shot, and you just might be surprised at the results you can achieve without spending a ton of money on specialized skin care products.

Help for Acne – Don't Worry About Baby Acne

by : Allan Lim
No mother will feel too happy seeing her beloved baby having a face full of pimples, but it just happens sometimes. This is commonly called the baby acne, similar to what most teenagers and young adults suffer from.

Like the common acne, there is no single known cause for acne. Also, extremely effective baby acne treatments seem to be unknown too. This is coupled with the fact that babies usually have delicate and sensitive skin. In fact, it is generally recommended for baby acne to be left alone and heal on its own.
One possible cause of acne is due to hormonal changes that occur due to the separation from the mother's womb. While not all babies will be affected by baby acne, some will. Other possible reasons include reaction to formula as well as post natal medications.

Fortunately, baby acne tends to go away by itself, usually in just a few days. For some babies, the condition may last a bit longer, up to several weeks or more. Usually, baby acne will not show up until the baby is a few weeks old.

First time parents are usually more concern and understandably so. They are concern about the beauty of their baby. However, there is usually no need to get too frantic about the condition.
What is more important is a basic understanding of what baby acne is about. First, baby acne is not cause by dirt or the lack of hygiene. Never attempt scrubbing or it can make the baby acne worse.
Usually, baby acne should be treated with regular bathing, using mild baby soap. As mentioned above, a baby's skin is incredibly delicate. Only light sponge bathing is required even if baby acne is present.
Sometimes, baby acne just seems to be very persistent and doesn't seem like it is going to heal any time soon. In this kind of situation, some parents may start to feel panic. They may even be tempted to medicate the skin themselves. Try to avoid doing so.

Creams used to treat teenage and adult acne are not designed with the baby's delicate skin in mind. They are only meant for teenage and adults. Self medicating may hurt the fragile skin of a baby. If the condition is really serious, it is best to consult a doctor. The doctor will decide what the best treatment available for the baby is.
Baby acne is perhaps a phase that many babies will have to go through. While all parents want their babies to be pretty, there is usually no major cause for concern when it comes to baby acne as it will usually pass.
If the condition get too serious, never attempt self medication. Seeking medical assistance is definitely a much better approach.

Save Your Newborn From Acne With A Baby Acne Treatment

It is certainly a must for a new parent to know about a baby acne treatment especially when your newborn has developed acne. Do not panic, as it is not a serious problem. It is not permanent either and it vanishes on its own within a short period. At the same time, baby acne is not be ignored as it causes a lot of itching and inconvenience to the tender baby. By taking some care and simple baby acne treatment, we can avoid the accumulation and growth of additional bacteria.

Before proceeding for any baby acne treatment, it would be better to know what it actually is. People of all ages are affected by acne and the newborn babies are not an exception. Normally acne occurs due to the excessive oil produced by the sebaceous glands. The acne-producing bacteria work along with the excessive oil and leads to an acne breakout. However, in case of newborn babies, acne occurs due to the hormones passed from the mother to child through the placenta during delivery.

These hormones excite the sebaceous glands in the babies and the result is a baby acne breakout. It can be normally seen on the forehead, cheeks, chin and back of the baby. The skin develops a red rash with small bumps on it and causes vigorous itching to the baby. A newborn is affected by baby acne usually around four weeks and it may last up to the age of four to six months.

Some people fail to distinguish between baby acne and other types of skin disorders. Many types of allergies and rashes affect infants. Some babies develop milia one of the skin disorder in which a baby develops bumps on face usually during the time of birth. Anyway, these bumps disappear very soon and no medication is needed. Some babies suffer with eczema that is again a type of skin rash. Therefore, it is very important to recognize the actual problem and then go for the right baby acne treatment. First, a baby should be always kept clean and hygienic. Always wash the baby's body and face gently with warm water and mild baby soap. Avoid harsh soaps on the baby's delicate skin and wash all the baby clothing like baby towels, bed linen, and blankets with mild detergents. Do not scrub or rub the body of the baby after wash rather pat it dry with a soft cloth. Over washing the skin can further aggravate the irritation and make sure not to apply any lotion or baby oil when he or she is suffering with baby acne.

The best way to treat a baby is to remain patient. However, if you find the problem severe then get the advice of a dermatologist. Never try to experiment the baby's skin with creams and lotions meant for adult usage.

Baby acne is a common problem experienced by about 20% of newborn population. If left untreated, it disappears by itself. It is also found that male babies are more affected by baby acne compared to the female infants. It is very important to know that it is not a result of family history of acne. It also does not mean that a baby suffering from it will definitely face the acne problems in his future teenage years. There may be myths regarding this issue but the fact is that a best baby acne treatment will solve the problem.

Does Chocolate Cause Acne? Yes it Can in Some People

Does chocolate cause acne? Yes chocolate definitely can cause acne in some people, depending on your genetics. There are many foods that can cause acne depending on your genetics. If I eat a large milk chocolate bar it will usually give me cystic acne somewhere on my body within a few days. It usually takes 3 days until you will breakout from a certain food after you eat it. ( If you are allergic to that certain food.)

If you have a cystic acne bump that never goes away, then you are probably eating the food that is causing the bump on a regular basis. (Synthetic lotions absorbed through your skin could also be causing the cyst also.) You see, your skin is an eliminatory organ also, and sometimes it will eliminate toxins through your skin if it needs to. Some people say that the whole toxins thing is nonsense, but just think of Poison Ivy. It is so toxic, that you don't even have to eat it to break out from it. You only have to touch it. Also not everyone is allergic to Poison Ivy. All plants on the planet are not fit for human consumption and can be toxic. Just think of deadly mushrooms. They are so toxic that they can kill you if you accidentally eat one. Back when I was finding the cure for my acne, I would cycle through phases of eating large quantities of the same food, and then not eating that certain food for a while and then notice the condition of my skin.

One day I decided to test milk chocolate bars to see if they made me break out. I didn't eat any chocolate or chocolate bars for a few weeks to make sure that all chocolate was out of my system. I did not have acne on my forehead after the 3 weeks. To test to see if chocolate bars were causing me acne, I ate a couple large chocolate bars every day for a few days in a row. On the third day I developed cystic acne on my forehead. I then quit eating them on the third day. It took about a week and a half for the cystic acne bumps on my forehead to go away. Coincidence? Not at all. I have done this test many times over the past few years. I have also tested many other foods the same way that I tested chocolate. Over the last 6 years I have been testing every food that I eat to see if it makes me break out. I now have a list of foods that were causing my acne, and a list of foods that do not cause me to break out with acne. Chocolate bars are not the only food that can cause acne. Any food or substance can cause acne if you have a food allergy to it. So, does chocolate cause acne ? Here is the answer. Yes it can if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in the chocolate bars. It might be the oils that they put in the chocolate bars that are making some people break out from eating them. Or it could be the chocolate itself. Does chocolate cause acne in everyone? The answer is no . Since everyone's genetics are slightly different, some people might be able to tolerate eating chocolate without breaking out. Also your overall diet will be a factor. Why does chocolate cause acne in some people but not others even though they have very similar genetics like brothers and sisters? Your body has to use the fats that you eat to make the oil that it puts on your skin. If the majority of your dietary fats are from clogging type oils (like the kind in chocolate bars) then your body will have to use what it has to work with. One sibling might eat an overall healthier diet than the one with acne. If you were to include more non-clogging, non-allergenic oils (like extra virgin olive oil) into your diet, then your body will have the right kind of dietary building blocks it needs to keep your skin moisturized, without the oil getting stuck before reaching the surface of your skin. Your body will then have more of a choice, and not be forced to use the acne causing types of oils.

I know that you have probably read all over the Internet, and told by your doctor that food does not cause acne, but I now know that it does. I had cystic acne until I changed my diet. It all started in junior high school when we had the freedom to skip lunch and eat at the snack bar. I would eat chocolate and peanut butter cups and a soda every day instead of lunch. I had bad acne then, but I didn't see the connection at the time. Recently I have been keeping a food journal for 6 years, and now I know that certain foods make me break out, so I just avoid them if I want my skin to remain clear. And chocolate bars definitely make me break out. I have tested it many times over the last few years.

Baby Acne Treatment Tips

Baby acne is a problem of skin and defined as inflamed blackheads, red pimples and whiteheads. It can be present at birth, but typically appears at 3 to 4 weeks of age. Baby acne commonly appears on the arms, legs, shoulders, face and buttocks. Baby acne usually appears on the chin, cheeks or forehead in the form of whiteheads, blackheads or pustules. The bumps of baby acne are quickly fleeting evidence of the connection between a mother's body and her baby's. During the final moments of pregnancy, her hormones cross the placenta into her child. Among other things (such as maturing the lungs), this stimulates the oil glands on the skin, eventually giving rise to the baby acne. Sometimes, baby acne is associated by contact with dirty clothes.

Milia are pearly white bumps on a baby's nose, chin or cheeks. Sometimes milia affect a baby's gums or roof of the mouth as well. Many babies are born with milia. Baby acne often develops within the first three to four weeks after birth. Many babies have both conditions at once. Benzoyl Peroxide 5% lotion is very effective to remove acne from the skin. This lotion may be used in babies over 3 months old. Wash your baby's face with warm water two or three times a day and pat it dry. Don't use lotions, oils or other treatments. Never pinch or scrub milia or baby acne. Oils or creams are not recommended by the health care providers to reduce the acne from the surface of the skin. Clean affected portion of the skin with mild soap and clean water or cleanser like Aquanil Cleansing Lotion daily.

Baby Acne Treatment and Prevention Tips
1. Drink fresh fruits juices and large amount of water.
2. Never pinch or scrub milia or baby acne.
3. Do not squeeze, dig, touch or pick the acne.
4. Use paper towels to pat the affected area dry and throw it away.
5. Benzoyl Peroxide 5% lotion is very effective to remove acne from the skin.
6. Apply a little medicine such as hydrocortisone cream for baby acne.

What Cause Cystic Acne And How You Can Treat It

by : Jess
There are numerous types of acne but Cystic Acne is the most severe of them all. It really is not just severe and unpleasant but also very noticeable. It is the most challenging acne to deal with and typically takes a longer time to deal with than all other types of acne. This is since it forms extremely deep within the skin. Dermatologists generally perform thorough treatment procedures on patients that severe Cystic Acne. They have also to put a lot of things into consideration before they figure out the right treatment for the patient. So, is everyone at risk of obtaining Cystic Acne? Sadly, yes. Everybody can get this severe kind of acne. But statistics from distinct locations within the world have it that men are normally much more affected as compared to women. It starts as a basic pimple or in some cases as a lump. This lump or pimple appears on the face of the patient, on their chest or on the back. After very some time, the pimple or nodule matures and forms a painful reddish head.

The poor news so far is that the only thing dermatologists have managed to put forth is the factors that may possibly contribute to the formation of Cystic Acne. The actual cause of this deadly acne remains to be uncovered. All that's there today is some pointers to factors that might be contributing to its development. Nonetheless, these factors are critical and can be quite useful when seriously taken into consideration. If a Cystic Acne breaks the bacteria spills over to other skin pores which may well turn into infected also. Acne Scars Treatment - Effective Tips To Prevent And Heal Acne Scars

Acne scars are easily recognized by the red skin of an area formerly occupied by a pimple. The initial form, while not actually a scar, will lead to one in some cases. Unfortunately, the only way to know for sure that it is a scar is if the red skin persists for longer than 6-12 months. It is often better, therefor, to treat all acne lesions as potential scars.

What Causes Acne Scars?

Acne scars are caused by an overabundance of the connective tissues your body uses to heal itself. These tissues work to provide a temporary framework for your skin cells to regrow on. But if there is too much of this connective tissue, it is not broken down when the healing is complete, but rather stays permanently. This causes a discolored or unpigmented section of skin to form.

Avoiding Acne Scars

Since the root cause of acne scarring is acne, preventing acne in the first place is the best way to avoid scars. But even if you already have acne, it is still possible to prevent acne scars from forming. The way this is done is by speeding the healing process as much as possible. The faster your acne lesion heals, the less time the connective tissue framework has to overgrow and leave scars.

Speeding the Healing Process

There are 2 main treatments dermatologists use to facilitate the rapid healing of acne lesions. The first is Tretinoin, an acid derivative of Vitamin A, also known as all-trans retinoic acid. This chemical speeds the skin's healing, reducing inflammation and preventing acne scars from forming.

The second method involves the use of various Alpha- and Beta-Hydroxy acids, which perform much the same function as Tretoinin, speeding healing and reducing the chance of scarring.

Helping Yourself

Even if you don't or can't see a dermatologist, there are several different things you can do yourself that can help prevent acne scars from forming. The biggest thing is to treat your skin well. Avoid over-exposure to the sun, as sunburns can dramatically slow the healing process. Always wear sunscreen when going out in the sun. Don't pop your pimples, and if there are scabs from lesions, do not pick at them. Picking at any wound as it heals causes more damage, extending healing times and increasing the likelihood of scar tissue forming.

Removing Existing Acne Scars

Even with the best of care, scarring still sometimes occurs. But even if a scar does form, there are several options available that can reduce or eliminate your visible scarring.

Dermal Fillers

Fillers such as collagen can be injected into the site of an acne scar, raising the skin surface to reduce the appearance of pockmarks. These are not permanent treatments, however, and will require re-injection every 3-6 months.

Laser Resurfacing

An extremely popular and fast treatment for acne scars, laser resurfacing works by burning a precisely measured upper layer of skin. New skin then grows over the wound, leaving mostly unscarred skin visible. But as with the initial acne healing process, care must be taken to insure that this new skin does not scar as well.

Punch Excision

This procedure is only effective on certain types of scars. A surgical punch is made to precisely the dimensions of the scar to be removed. The scar is then punched out, similar to a cookie cutter, and the wound sewn together. If there is any scarring left after the wound heals, it can be more easily treated with laser resurfacing than the original larger scar.

Baby Acne – Causes and Treatments

by : peterhutch
Baby acne is a very common condition among newborn babies. Baby acne can be present at the time of birth or may usually develop within 2 to 4 weeks after birth. Baby acne is a result of the hormonal changes in the body as these changes stimulate the oil glands in the baby's skin.

Baby acne, as with all medical conditions, has some common symptoms. Usually the acne first appears to be a rash with small pimples that are red in appearance. Sometimes, whiteheads can actually be seen. The pimples will tend to show up more when the baby is upset or overheated and at times they may even seem as though they are not there at all. Baby cane will clear up with time and are not something that young mothers should be overly concerned about.

Baby acne is primarily caused by fetal hormones, such as adrenal androgens, that are passed through the placenta prior to birth. Drugs, taken by the nursing mum or by the baby, can also trigger baby acne. The most common ones include: Steroids (oral or topical), anti-depressant medicines and occasionally oral contraceptives.

What causes baby acne?

There are several factors that can cause acne on the skin of the baby.
* As with adolescent acne, the condition can be caused by a skin irritation
* Medicines can causes baby acne as well
* It's possible that mineral oil or petroleum can cause baby acne.

Bad Nutrition

Since your baby cannot pick up bad eating habits at this early age, infantile acne due to bad nutrition is very rare. Bad nutrition can be the cause of infantile acne if parents are not attentive toward their babies' diet.

Does Baby Acne Hurt? More often than not, you will be more affected by your baby's acne than she is. Baby acne does not itch, sting, or hurt in any way. And she is too young to notice her unsightly appearance. So it is more likely that baby acne will bother you, than your baby. However, with severe cases of baby acne, the blemishes may become so swollen and inflamed that they cause or add to your baby's fussiness. See your health care provider if you think your baby's acne is causing her aggravation.

Treatment:

Baby acne usually goes away by itself. It is sufficient in most cases to do some gentle facial cleansing once or at most twice a day using a mild baby cleanser and clean water. Do not scrub baby's face, this will not help and may be counterproductive. Don't apply lotions or potions or oils. Don't look for fancy baby acne remedies, don't try applying vinegar solution for baby acne as some do Unless baby's acne is being caused by an underlying condition, there is really no need to treat it. It doesn't harm your baby and is purely a cosmetic issue. Gently wash your baby's face with plain water once or twice per day, and don't scrub. Cleansing that is too frequent or too vigorous will irritate your baby's skin.

Prevention

· Child should not sleep on dirty pillows.
· Drink fresh fruits juices and large amount of water.
· Do not squeeze, dig, touch or pick the acne.
· Use paper towels to pat the affected area dry and throw it away.

Causes of Acne

Discover in this article what almost everyone does that helps prolong their acne problems and that puts their health at risk for other diseases and conditions by weakening their body's natural defense system.

For both males and females, the increase in androgens during puberty can cause these sebaceous glands to produce more sebum, which is oil. This oil mixes with dead skin cells and bacteria on the skin and blocks pores. Inside of these blocked pores bacteria multiplies and leads to swelling, which then causes spots and pimples.

This was after spending many years and lots of money on all the different acne products on the market. They all proved to be ineffective, expensive and a complete waste of time. This included the big acne products widely promoted on the internet.

Has anyone ever told you that poor hygiene causes acne? Not true. Though poor hygiene can lead to other health problems, acne is not one of them. As a matter of fact, people that wash their faces too often have a greater risk of developing acne.

What I discovered about acne and how to clear it is this. Food is a direct cause of acne. Some foods cause acne and some help fight against acne. This is because some foods cause something called hormonal inflammation, and this is what causes acne in every case.

Please remember that no treatment will completely cure your acne. The main aim of the treatment of acne is to prevent new spots appearing on the skin. However, advances in laser treatment have made it possible to remove scars and now is being used to treat acne worldwide. We know more today than ever before about the treatment of acne.

Remember that it can take 3-6 weeks to see any improvement after beginning treatment for acne.

How much vegetable oil you eat each day will greatly affect how much acne you get, and also, how bad your acne will be. I highly recommend you cut down today. Go and check the ingredients of all the food you eat regularly and make sure no vegetable oil is in it. Avoid vegetable oil for 3 days and watch your skin clear up DRAMATICALLY.

I'm not saying that avoiding vegetable oil will completely cure your acne, but I'm sure that it will reduce your acne significantly and stop those nasty cystic eruptions that cause the worst suffering.

Oil is not the only acne cause. There are other causes. Acne has so many interconnecting causes and this makes it very difficult to have a permanent cure for acne.

Luckily, there are ways to control some of the causes of acne so well that it appears as though acne is permanently cured.

A surprisingly large number of newborn babies can also be affected by a type of acne too. This form of acne usually affects infants between about the ages of 2 weeks and 3 months. Baby acne is known by the term Acne neonatorum, and tends to be often seen on baby's cheeks or nasal bridge.

Cause Of Acne - Why Am I Getting Pimples?

by :  Felix Schmieder

Medically speaking, an acne sufferer has a combination of components operating in accord, frequently causing inflammation to our face-otherwise called acne. A typical cause of acne can include

• Trapped bacteria beneath the skin
• Increased sebum
• Keratosis retention

Increased oil production inside the skin can be a huge cause of acne and can come about from cosmetics, but is commonly brought about by the sebaceous glands. These glands are what make an increased quantity of oil, resulting in acne and pimples. In addition, retention of Keratosis can also cause an overabundance of oil and this occurs when skin cells (that are not cast off) clog the sebaceous ducts. The function of these sebaceous ducts is to eliminate excess oil.

Ordinarily, eruptions of acne come about during adolescent years, but can happen with a lot of people at whatever age. Acne is typical in teens, since most of the increases in hormone activity happen inside the skin. Whether it is a teen affected by acne, or an adult, it's a fact that hormones play major role in breakouts, yet many experts simply shrug off this cause of acne.

Male hormones are what mainly cause the increase oil production rather than female hormones. While male hormones have a greater effect, some male and female hormones are really alike. Thus, when hormones are secreted by women during a menstrual cycle, hormones similar to the male hormones cause magnified oil gland activity. As a consequence, many women who are menstruating typically have a much higher chance of getting pimples, blemishes, or acne during their menstrual cycle.

Though acne affects a lot of people, certain acne treatments and acne remedies have been shown to be very effective. And some myths, such as there's no link between diet and acne have been debunked. In the past, doctors would loudly claim there was proof when in fact there is proof showing there is a link and diet can be a direct factor and cause of acne.

The very effective acne treatments include the following:

Avoiding bad foods such as dairy or refined white sugar exercise getting enough sun light during the day
Nonprescription acne treatment and medicines come in the several forms such as facial creams and scrubs, and these not always very effective as treating acne, particularly the more serious cases of acne. The best acne treatment for severe acne or any type of acne for that matter would include natural methods, such as expelling the built up toxins inside of your body. By doing this, you are allowing your body to catch up and focus its healing process on actually healing rather than focusing on keeping the worst side effects from affecting you

Acne is not a new medical condition that suddenly affects a wide range of people. Acne has always represented a problem for some, and it can not only be treated, but cured as well. You have within you the only thing you'll ever need to cure your acne. Unlock your body's natural ability to fight the true cause of acne and discover how you can have completely clear skin in a short amount of time.
